Iron and steel scrap (hadeed) in Dammam
Hadeed is bought by the tonne, so the weighbridge matters more here than anywhere. canasa grades iron and steel scrap at the Dammam yard, weighs every truck on a certified scale in front of you, and places bins at sites that fill them steadily.

What counts as hadeed
Iron and steel scrap is graded by thickness and by how clean it is. These are the lines you will see on the quote.
- 01HMS 1
Heavy melting steel 6 mm thick or more: beams, columns, thick plate and heavy offcuts.
- 02HMS 2
Steel thinner than HMS 1, galvanised pieces included: light sections, sheet offcuts and racking.
- 03Tanks, drums and machinery
Empty steel drums and tanks, and retired heavy equipment from plants and workshops.
- 04Stainless steel
Kitchens, sinks, piping and tanks in 304 or 316. Stainless is weakly magnetic at most and is priced on its own line, well above ordinary steel.
Before steel leaves your site
Three habits that make the weight and the grade plain to see.
- 01Use a magnet
Ordinary steel grabs a magnet hard. Stainless barely does, and aluminium, copper and brass do not at all. Pull the non-magnetic pieces out so they are priced as the better metal they are.
- 02Empty drums and tanks
Drain and open drums and tanks before loading, so the scale weighs steel and nothing else.
- 03Ask for a bin
If steel builds up every week, a bin or roll-off at your site in Dammam, Khobar, Dhahran or Jubail is swapped when it is full.
Questions about steel scrap
Asked most by contractors, plants and workshops.
What is hadeed?
Hadeed (حديد) is the Arabic word for iron, and in the Saudi scrap trade it covers iron and ordinary steel scrap. canasa buys it in its usual forms, from beams and plate to empty drums and machinery.
How is steel scrap priced?
By grade and by weight on a certified weighbridge. The price per kilo is written on the quote before the truck moves, and at the gate the weight is photographed and the ticket signed by both sides.
Do you collect steel scrap from construction sites?
Yes. Bins and roll-off containers are placed at sites in Dammam, Khobar, Dhahran and Jubail and swapped when full, with Riyadh possible by agreement. For a one-off clearance, see Projects.
Do you buy steel from individuals?
Yes. A pickup of old gates, frames or water tanks is weighed in the same way as a factory load.
Put your steel on our scale
Send photos of the pile and a rough tonnage. The grader replies with the grade and the price per kilo, and you choose a drop-off or a bin.
